The Foundation for Polish Science announces the planned call for applications under the First Team action, funded by the European Funds for a Modern Economy 2021–2027. The call No. 1/2024 will be conducted from September 2, 2024, to October 2, 2024.
Description of the Action
First Team is an initiative by the Foundation for Polish Science aimed at attracting the best young researchers from around the world to work in Polish research organizations and fostering international and economic collaboration. Under the First Team, early-career scientists can apply for funds to establish a new research team and conduct R&D work in collaboration with a foreign scientific partner and a domestic economic partner. The action also aims to increase the competitiveness of Polish proposals submitted to ERC competitions.
Who Can Apply for Funding
Applicants can be research organizations that designate a person to serve as the principal investigator of the project. This individual is the author of the research concept presented in the application and must hold at least a Ph.D. obtained no earlier than 12 years before the submission of the application to the First Team competition.
Eligible Funding
Funding is available for original research and development work with potential implementation value and significance in addressing economic or socio-economic problems. The thematic scope of projects is not limited to specific fields of science but must align with the priorities listed in the National Smart Specializations. The project must include collaboration with at least one foreign scientific partner and a domestic economic partner, with financial support provided solely to the research organization (applicant). Funding does not cover basic research.
Funding Amount
A single project can receive funding up to a maximum of 4 million PLN. Funds are awarded through a competition. A total of 64 million PLN is allocated for projects in the call No. 1/2024.
