Opened call for proposals under the ERA4HEALTH programme

Two interesting funding opportunities have been launched under the ERA4Health programme, covering clinical research, metabolic disorders, obesity and related health challenges.

1. ERA4Health – Trials4Health 2026

The Trials4Health 2026 call supports multinational, investigator-initiated clinical studies in three priority areas: cardiovascular diseases, metabolic disorders and autoimmune diseases.

The call covers, among others, pragmatic comparative-effectiveness clinical trials and drug-repurposing studies involving off-patent medicines for non-commercial purposes.

Key submission deadlines:

  • Pre-proposal: 27 January 2026
  • Full proposal: 17 June 2026

2. ERA4Health – PREVENT-OO: Understanding and Preventing Overweight and Obesity

The PREVENT-OO 2026 call supports multidisciplinary research aimed at improving our understanding and prevention of overweight and obesity.

Projects should address one of two main research areas:

  • Mechanisms underlying overweight and obesity, including biological, genetic, epigenetic and chronobiological factors and their interactions with environmental factors and comorbidities;
  • Public-health prevention during key life transitions, such as the postpartum period, menopause, chronic illness or retirement, including research on determinants, assessment tools and effective prevention strategies.

Both calls may be particularly relevant to researchers working in metabolism, nutrition, obesity, epigenetics, cardiovascular health and related areas.
