The National Science Centre (NCN) has just announced a call for proposals in the OPUS 28+LAP/Weave for research projects. The budget for the OPUS 28+LAP/Weave competition is PLN 450 million. The deadline for submission is December 16, 2024
In the OPUS call for proposals, as in other NCN calls, researchers can apply for funding across all fields of science. Each edition of OPUS allows scientists to request funds for national projects as well as those conducted in collaboration with partners from foreign research institutions or by using large international research facilities.
In this September edition, the LAP path under the Weave program has been opened, enabling Polish researchers to obtain funding for projects carried out in collaboration with partners from Austria, the Czech Republic, Slovenia, Germany, Switzerland, Luxembourg, or Belgium-Flanders. These partners simultaneously apply for funding from their respective national funding agencies. In this configuration, LAP applications are evaluated by NCN expert teams, while foreign agencies accept the results of these evaluations and, based on them, allocate funding to their partner teams.
OPUS projects can be planned for durations of 12, 24, 36, or 48 months, while OPUS LAP projects can run for 24, 36, or 48 months, depending on the country of residence of the partner team. There is no upper limit on funding for a single project. Grants can be used for salaries for the principal investigator and team members, scholarships, the purchase of equipment, devices, software, materials, and services, as well as for travel expenses, visits, and consultations.
