MSCA Staff Exchanges 2024 Call for Proposals: Fostering Global Innovation Through Collaboration

The MSCA Staff Exchanges 2024 (HORIZON-MSCA-2024-SE-01) is now open for applications, inviting institutions to create international partnerships that drive interdisciplinary and inter-sectoral research and innovation. This initiative, funded under Horizon Europe, is designed to promote dynamic collaboration across academia, industry, and other sectors, focusing on staff exchanges that bridge disciplines, sectors, and geographical borders.

Why Apply for MSCA Staff Exchanges?

MSCA Staff Exchanges provides an opportunity for research, technical, administrative, and managerial staff supporting R&I (Research and Innovation) activities to share knowledge and expertise across diverse environments. It cultivates a shared culture of creativity, entrepreneurship, and innovation, paving the way for new products, services, and processes that impact global markets.

Outcomes for Participating Staff Members:

Through this exchange program, participating staff members will gain a variety of research and transferable skills, enhancing both their career prospects and employability across academia and industry. The program fosters an entrepreneurial mindset, encouraging staff to test and develop innovative ideas and to translate knowledge into tangible outputs. It also offers invaluable international exposure, expanding professional networks and communication capabilities across borders and disciplines.

Benefits for Participating Organisations:

Participating organizations will enjoy strengthened networks and enhanced capacities for collaboration and knowledge exchange. By integrating various sectors and disciplines, they can tap into innovative approaches and expand their R&I reach internationally, strengthening their potential to address global challenges.

Partnerships and Project Structure

In the MSCA Staff Exchanges scheme, partnerships of independent organizations are encouraged to undertake joint R&I projects through secondments, where eligible staff members can work and learn in a different institutional setting. These secondments are structured around three mobility dimensions:

  • International Mobility: Partnerships can extend across both EU Member States and Third Countries.
  • Inter-Sectoral Mobility: Encourages exchanges between academic and non-academic sectors within the EU and Associated Countries.
  • Interdisciplinary Mobility: Enables same-sector exchanges as long as they cross disciplinary boundaries, particularly in collaborations involving non-associated Third Countries.
